New Faculty : Sébastien Jodogne
icteam | Louvain-la-Neuve
We are very happy to welcome Sébastien Jodogne as a new Faculty member in ICTEAM.
Sébastien earned his Master's and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from ULiège, respectively in 2001 and 2006.
Between 2007 and 2011, he performed research and development about high-performance image processing algorithms for machine vision, closed-circuit television, and broadcasting in private companies. He then served as a research engineer at the radiotherapy and nuclear medicine departments of the University Hospital of Liège between 2011 and 2016, where he designed the free and open-source Orthanc ecosystem for medical imaging.
For his work on Orthanc, Sébastien received the 2014 Award for the Advancement of Free Software from the Free Software Foundation (FSF), as well as the Best e-Health Project Award from the Agoria Federation (2015). He was also promoted as "Chevalier du Mérite Wallon" (2015) and as one of the Digital Wallonia Champions (2017). The success of Orthanc led to the creation of Osimis, a spin-off company of the University Hospital of Liège that provides professional services around the Orthanc project. Sébastien joined Osimis as its Chief Scientific Officer in 2017, while still acting as a scientific collaborator for ULiège, where he notably taught principles of medical informatics to trainee physicians in the Faculty of medicine.
Sébastien's research interests include health informatics, medical imaging, computer vision and software engineering.
