Farewell to Peter Thwaites

As we say goodbye to Peter Thwaites, we want to celebrate his fantastic contributions to our team. Peter has been a driving force in our applied linguistics research, especially through his work on the ICLE project. Some of his key achievements include:

• Successfully grading a substantial portion of the ICLE (500 texts rubric-rated, 1300 texts CJ rated), providing valuable resources for researchers.
• Enhancing the reliability, efficiency, and validity of L2 writing assessment through innovative judge recruitment methods like crowdsourcing, community-driven methods, and professional raters.
• Publishing compelling evidence supporting CJ for both assessment purposes and broader linguistic research.

Peter's dedication has resulted in two important publications (in "Assessing Writing" and "Applied Linguistics"), with more on the horizon. We are grateful for Peter's hard work and wish him all the best in his future endeavours. Thank you, Peter, for your outstanding contributions and for being a wonderful part of our team!
