Recovery Marketing for Destinations During Image Crises
Terror events, natural disasters, crime and epidemics can be a death blow to destinations. The lecture will demonstrate how destinations and tourist sites around the world deal with tourism crises and what image repair strategies marketers choose to bring back tourists and rescue the tourism industry from a deep crisis. At the same time, we will examine how countries and cities around the world try to deal with negative stereotypes that harm tourists’ willingness to visit.
Eli Avraham (PhD) received his B.A in International Relations from The Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 1988, and his M.A and PhD in communication in 1998. He is one of the founders of the “strategic communication and public relations program” and also the “ambassadors online program”. Prof. Avraham is head of the Comper Center for the Study of Antisemitism and Racism at the University of Haifa.
