Research strategy

The research strategy at LouRIM has been designed around two main principles: topical coherence and methodological specialization.

Topical coherence refers to the identification of research themes that explore different aspects of managerial actions within firms, organizations, and markets. These themes cover positive, normative, and interpretative dimensions, including the role and behavior of organizations toward non-market stakeholders and society in general.

The research at LouRIM focuses on processes and functions that are of interest to managerial decision-makers. These processes can be interpreted in applied contexts to some extent, providing practical value for decision-making in real-world situations.

Given that management is intrinsically multidisciplinary, research at LouRIM encourages and promotes collaboration between complementary paradigms. This collaborative approach helps address specific research questions and forms the foundation for the openness of the LouRIM research environment.

At the same time, excellence in research is enhanced when researchers engage with communities that share similar paradigms. These communities create a critical mass that allows researchers to pursue projects that are published in high-quality disciplinary journals. They also provide opportunities for offering advanced courses in the doctoral program.

This focus on specialized research is made possible through strong interactions with related disciplinary research groups and institutes, both within and outside of LouRIM. As a result, LouRIM researchers often play a dual role, contributing to both applied and theoretical projects, benefiting all parties involved.

This dynamic interaction within the institute is crucial, where disciplinary excellence is seen as a means to achieve success in interdisciplinary work. It is through this approach that LouRIM ensures consistency with high-quality doctoral training, ultimately increasing the market value of our doctoral candidates.
