Abstract :
This presentation will reflect upon the research career journeys of Profs Jemina Napier and Christopher Stone. They will reflect upon the beginnings of sign language translation and interpreting (SLTI) research. Then they will consider their own journeys into SLTI research and reflect upon the changing expectations place upon PhD and early career researchers, including the supervision expertise now available, the increased awareness of social justice and the appropriateness of the questions we explore, the diversity of publishing and public engagement now expected, and the desire for transdisciplinary research.
