Merger with UCLouvain

On 14 September 2023, Université Saint-Louis - Bruxelles merged officially with UCLouvain.
After decades of academic and scientific collaboration, Université Saint-Louis - Bruxelles and UCLouvain have decided to join forces and bring new opportunities to their students and staff. UCLouvain is a comprehensive university located 35 minutes from Brussels. With over 30,000 students, it is the leading French-language university in Belgium (QS Ranking). This merger represents great opportunities for our university and for our partners.
On 14 September 2023, we officially became one of the 8 campuses of UCLouvain and were renamed UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles. The UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles campus remains unchanged for the most part. Our current location, academic and administrative staff remain the same.
What does this mean for our partner institutions?
In practice, this merger has no impact on our partnership:
- Incoming students continue to stay and study at our Saint-Louis campus in Brussels, and have access to the same academic programmes and course catalogue.
- Visiting staff and researchers continue to have the opportunity to stay on our Brussels campus and collaborate with our team of 216 teachers and 236 researchers.
- Our international relations team continue to work on the Saint-Louis Bruxelles campus. The contact points remain the same. We continue to manage incoming mobility on our campus, which remains a campus on a human scale offering high-quality academic support and a high degree of flexibility to incoming students.
- Given the legal form of the merger, no amendments to our current agreements need be signed. The change of name does not affect the validity of our agreements.
What happens if your institution also has an agreement with UCLouvain?
- The various agreements are still valid and are managed separately by the international office of each campus. This applies even if the agreements cover the same fields of study.
- As the agreements are managed separately, an agreement with the Saint-Louis Bruxelles campus is necessary in order to send your students to our Brussels campus.
