Yes, it can be complicated to find a student accommodation in Louvain-la-Neuve, Brussels, or in the other cities where our campuses are located. UCLouvain does not grant scholarships to international bachelor’s or master’s students. However, certain Belgian and international organizations offer funding opportunities, such as the Commission for Development Cooperation (ARES-CCD), the Directorate-General for Development Cooperation (DGD), and the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF). The European Union also provides scholarships for Erasmus Mundus master’s programs. We recommend that you inquire with your home institution, local government, or international organizations (EU, UN, World Bank, etc.). For more information, visit the "Study in Belgium" website.
In Belgium, international students are allowed to work part-time for a maximum of 19 hours per week during the academic year or 38 hours per week during the summer holidays. The student will have to apply for a special work permit. Please note: the law does not allow students to fund their studies solely through student jobs. You can find more information on the Student at Work site.
Of course! If you want to improve your level of French during your studies, you can follow French courses at the ILV (The Language Institute of UCLouvain).
