Unless in rare cases, each PhD can be conducted in French, English, or even in other languages.

If you are admitted to UCLouvain, the Admissions Office will provide you with a letter of enrollment authorization. You will need to include this letter in the application file you submit to the local Belgian embassy or consulate to obtain your student visa. If you are a citizen of one of the 28 EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, or Switzerland, you do not need to apply for a visa, but you must register at your local municipality in Belgium. For more details, visit the "Visa for Belgium" page on the Belgian Foreign Affairs website.
